About This Masterclass
What This Workshop
Is About
Most video production problems are actually audio problems. Audiences will forgive imperfect pictures; they will not forgive bad sound. This one‑day workshop teaches you to treat audio with the same craft and attention you give to the image. Working entirely inside DaVinci Resolve’s Fairlight page, you will learn to clean and repair location audio, design an atmospheric soundscape, score a sequence with music, and master the final mix to broadcast loudness standards. You will leave with a fully mixed and mastered film and a sound design methodology you can apply to every project.

Curriculum
What We Cover
Fairlight Page Orientation & Dialogue Editing
Get fully oriented inside DaVinci Resolve’s Fairlight audio workstation. Understand the mixer, bus routing, clip gain and track‑level controls. Import and sync audio, edit dialogue clips for clean in‑points and out‑points, and use the Voice Isolation and Noise Reduction tools to repair location recordings affected by room tone, wind or background noise.
EQ, Compression & Audio Repair
Apply the essential processing tools of professional audio. Use parametric EQ to remove problem frequencies, add presence and clarity to dialogue and shape the tonal character of music. Apply dynamic compression to control level inconsistencies and add punch. Use de‑essing, de‑reverb and the hum remover to deal with common location audio problems cleanly and without artefacts.
Sound Design: Foley, Ambience & Music Scoring
Build the audio world beneath your picture. Learn the principles of sound design: how layered ambience creates place, how foley creates physical presence and how music shapes emotion. Work with a sound library to select, place and blend foley and ambient sounds against picture, and practise music editing — cutting, looping and transitioning tracks to fit the rhythm and arc of the film.
Audio Mastering, Loudness & Final Delivery
Finish your mix to a professional, deliverable standard. Understand loudness standards for broadcast, streaming and social platforms — LUFS targets, true peak limits and how they affect your mix decisions. Use the Fairlight loudness meter and limiter to master the final mix, perform a full QC pass across dialogue, music and effects, and export your final audio as a stereo or multi‑channel deliverable alongside the finished film.
