What This Workshop
Is About
DaVinci Resolve is the industry‑standard editing platform used by professional editors, broadcasters and filmmakers worldwide — and it is free to download. This one‑day workshop gives you a complete, working foundation. You will set up your first project correctly, import and organise media, build a timeline, cut and trim footage with precision, clean and mix audio, add titles and graphics, and export a finished video optimised for your platform. No prior editing experience is required. You will leave with a completed edit and a repeatable workflow you can apply from your very next project.

Curriculum
What We Cover
Audio Mixing & Export
Produce a clean, balanced audio mix and deliver your finished video. Set levels, remove background noise and apply EQ and compression to dialogue on the Fairlight page. Then move to the Deliver page, configure the correct export settings for Instagram, YouTube or broadcast, and render a finished, platform‑ready file.
Interface, Projects & Media Management
Get oriented inside DaVinci Resolve. Understand the page‑based workflow across the Media, Cut, Edit, Colour, Fairlight and Deliver pages. Create and configure a new project with the correct resolution, frame rate and colour space settings. Import, bin and organise your media so your project stays clean and navigable as it grows.
Timeline Editing: Cutting, Trimming & Structure
Build your first timeline from scratch. Assemble a rough cut by dragging clips to the timeline, then refine it using the Blade, Trim and Ripple tools. Work with the Cut page for fast assembly and the Edit page for precision. Learn to use markers, flags, clip colours and the Inspector panel to stay organised and move quickly through a sequence.
Titles, Graphics & Basic Colour Correction
Add context and polish to your edit. Create and customise lower thirds and title cards using the Titles toolbox. Apply basic colour correction on the Colour page — balance exposure, adjust white balance and boost contrast — to produce a clean, consistent image across your sequence without needing prior grading knowledge.
