About This Masterclass

What This Workshop

Is About

Colour is one of the most powerful tools in post‑production — and one of the most misunderstood. This one‑day workshop teaches you the full colour grading process inside DaVinci Resolve, from correcting a flat or log image to building a distinctive creative look. You will learn to read scopes accurately, build clean node structures, match shots across a sequence and apply LUTs with intention. The workshop covers both technical correction and creative grading so you leave with the knowledge to serve any brief, from broadcast‑accurate delivery to a cinematic, stylised finish.

What You'll Leave With

One Day.

Read and interpret waveform, RGB parade and vectorscope displays to make precise, informed corrections

Curriculum

What We Cover

Colour Science, Scopes & the Colour Page

Understand the theory behind the tools. Learn the difference between colour correction and creative grading, how colour space and gamma affect your image, and how to read the waveform, RGB parade and vectorscope to make decisions based on data rather than guesswork. Get fully oriented inside DaVinci Resolve’s Colour page: nodes, galleries, clips and the remote grades system.

Primary Correction: Exposure, White Balance & Contrast

Build a technically correct, neutral image as the foundation for every grade. Use the Lift, Gamma and Gain wheels and the Log wheels to balance exposure and control contrast. Correct white balance precisely using colour temperature and tint, and normalise log or flat footage using colour space transforms so it is ready for a creative grade.

Node Structures, Shot Matching & Skin Tones

Work with nodes the way professional colourists do. Build serial, parallel and layer node structures to separate technical and creative adjustments. Use the Colour Warper, curves and qualifiers to isolate and correct specific colours and skin tones. Match shots across a sequence using the Colour Match function and manual scope‑guided adjustments.

Creative Grading, LUTs & Delivery

Build a finished creative look from your corrected image. Understand how to use and apply technical and creative LUTs correctly, develop a signature grade using contrast, saturation and hue adjustments, and use stills and the Gallery to save and recall grades across projects. Export a graded, delivery‑ready file with correct colour space tagging for your target platform.
